Data management

Data management is the process of collecting, maintaining, and using data safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The goal of data management is to help people, organizations, and connected components optimize the use of data within policy and organization so that they can take decisions and actions that maximize the benefit to the organization.
An effective data management strategy is more important than ever, as organizations increasingly rely on intangible assets to create value, and compliance regulations are complex, multi-jurisdictional, and constantly changing. Organizations should be able to easily review their data and identify anything that falls under new or revised requirements. In particular, personally identifiable information must be detected, tracked, and monitored to comply with increasingly stringent global privacy laws.
Data is collected and stored from a growing number and variety of sources such as resource systems, applications used, sensors, smart devices, social media, and video cameras. But none of this data is useful if the organization does not know what data it has, where it is, and how it is used. Data management solutions need to scale and perform to deliver useful insights at the right time.
